The contractor is constructing the decorative crosswalks across the outside through lanes on Waukegan at Dewes and across the exit lane (north lane) for the Kraft parking lot late this week and into early next week.

The contractor is scheduled to construct the decorative crosswalks at Waukegan and Grove Street next week. Grove Street will be closed for approximately one (1) week (closure starting Tuesday - weather permitting). Motorists will need to use the signed detour for Grove Street.

The concrete contractor is still onsite, but is nearing completion of concrete work! You may notice the new medians at the intersection of Glenview Road and Waukegan Road are in, which means there isn't much left of Phase I!

Additionally, the contractor for the IDOT Resurfacing has arrived onsite to begin utility structure adjustments prior to resurfacing Waukegan Road.

The Village portion of the project, which includes the concrete curb bump-outs and medians is nearing completion. The contractor just has a few areas remaining, including a new median at the intersection of Glenview Road.

The contractor for the IDOT Resurfacing has rescheduled the structure adjustments along Waukegan for next week.

Copenhaver, the contractor for the Enhancements Projects, has been working hard to finish the curb bump outs and concrete medians. They have about a week’s worth of work remaining on the items directly adjacent to Waukegan Road. Once they finish those items, they will start on the work behind the curb and aprons.

Plote, the contractor for the Resurfacing Project, should be onsite this week making adjustments to the sewer structures that are in the road. They will be starting the removal of the top 2” of road soon. Please allow extra travel time if you’re going to be using Waukegan Road!

STRIKE HAS BEEN RESOLVED, CONSTRUCTION RESUMES!

The strike was resolved this week and new contracts between the unions and contractors have been signed and are in effect. The contractor resumed work this week!

The contractor has resumed work on the center concrete median on the south portion of the project, near Golf Road.

Strike Continues

As of this morning, the strike continues. The Unions and the Contracting Companies are still in negotiations and have not yet reached an agreement. It is our understanding that the next scheduled meeting is set for Monday, July 19.

We continue to ask for your patience and understanding during this time. We are continuing to monitor each construction site so that they remain safe to the general public.

STRIKE NOTICE

Dear Resident:

Thank you for your ongoing patience during the Village construction project adjacent to your home. At this time, the Village has been notified that Chicagoland Construction Labor Unions are going on strike. The conflict is between the Contracting Companies and the Unions, not involving the Village.

Work has therefore been temporarily shut down on your street. We are insuring that all construction sites are safe to the general public and will continue to actively monitor each site.

If any issues arise, or if you should have any questions, please contact the Village Project Manager or the Capital Projects Department at (847) 998-9500.

As of today, we do not have any information on how long this strike could last. We will inform you when this issue is resolved and work will resume.

The contractor continues to remove the median pavement in preparation for the proposed center line medians.

The contractor will be surveying tomorrow, Thursday, with plans to begin pavement removal on Friday and possibly Saturday. The removal for the bump outs and medians will begin on the south side, at Golf, and proceed to Lake Ave.

Construction Scheduled to Begin

A pre-construction meeting for Phase 1, the Village portion of the work, was held with the contractor, Copenhaver Construction, on Monday. IDOT has approved work to start, so the contractor’s surveyor will be onsite on Thursday and Friday to layout the center medians and curb bump-outs. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 21. One traffic lane may be blocked at times during construction, and traffic may be backed up at times, so please adjust your schedule accordingly.
